Is there anything better than sharing?
Is there anything better than sharing?
From an early age, music captivated me. Whether it was my dad belting out Prefab Sprout's "Steve McQueen" on long car journeys, or mum playing Nina Simone's "Broadway-Blues-Ballads", music was an integral part of growing up in our house. Despite some questionable musical tastes in my younger years, thanks to some gentle guidance from close friends, I finally found my way into albums that didn't have "Now That's What I Call Music" plastered on their covers.
Starting with indie rock, then a fascination with early hip hop, things evolved slowly until I was introduced to club music, and with it, djing. Finally, I had a way to share all of my favourite music with people. Since then, djing has been a huge driving force, with the anticipation of the next gig keeping me forever hungry. Finding new songs to play is like Indiana Jones unearthing a lost treasure.
To date, I have yet to have had the privilege of discovering anything that beats the feeling of having an entire room filled with people all in tune to the same beat and energy. Changing songs can feel like opening the next chapter of a book, a conversation with an audience where you lead with music. Sharing makes all the difference, music is something that gets better the more you share it.
So, is there anything better than sharing?
